Simone Maule grew up in the small town of Poulsbo, Washington and spent much of her childhood hiking, camping, canoeing, and turning over rocks on the beach. She attended Scripps College in Claremont, California, majoring in Science, Technology, and Society and minoring in Chemistry. After earning her degree in 2014 she spent a year working for the Nevada Conservation Corps as a crew member and crew leader. Throughout this period she fell in love with the Mojave Desert and decided to stay on with the NCC as their Logistics Assistant and then as the AmeriCorps Program Assistant. In 2017, Simone relocated to Reno, Nevada to work with GBI as the AmeriCorps Intern Program Coordinator. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her dog Elska, drawing, reading dystopian literature, baking cookies, and visiting national parks.
