This project consists of Hazard Tree cutting and removal of timber that meets specified sawlog standards. Ground-based logging is specified on ground that is generally less than 35% slope. Skyline logging systems or other agreed upon cable logging systems are specified for areas that generally exceed 35% slope. The purpose of the project is to improve safety along NFS roads for the public, Forest Service staff, firefighters, emergency response personnel, law enforcement, private land in holders, contractors, and others by removing hazard trees that are within striking distance of roads. In order to reduce the quantity of fuels left within the project area, biomass removal is specified from both the Plum Creek Road (2,000 tons) and the Bonetti Road (5,000 tons).
