Visa Information

What are the visa requirements?

Visa requirements will vary depending on each volunteers length of commitment. Please contact ICVE Program Director, Jeff Bryant, at jbryant@thegreatbasininstitute.org for more information about obtaining the proper visa for participation.

J1 Exchange Visitor.  The J1 Exchange Visitor visa is required for all ICVE internships.  Once accepted into the ICVE Internship program, the Program Director will aide you with obtaining your Exchange Visitor status.

B2 Tourist Visa.  A B2 Tourist visa is recommended for ICVE members participating in a session 12 weeks or longer, or plan on traveling within the United States before or after a volunteer session.  Once accepted into the ICVE volunteer program, upon request, a letter of support may be provided by the ICVE to aide in the visa application process.  For more information on obtaining a B2 Tourist Visa please visit http://travel.state.gov/visa/index.html.

Visa Waiver Program.  The Visa Waiver Program is recommended for ICVE members that will be in the United States for 90 days or less.  Please visit http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html for more information about the Visa Waiver Program.
