Great Basin Naturalists

Give your kids a ticket to outdoor adventure at Great Basin Naturalists Day Camp in Galena Creek Recreation Area and Galena Creek Regional Park. Naturalists guide children ages 8-12 as they discover local flora, fauna, geology and cultural history of the Galena Canyon area and the region as a whole. Activities include hands-on programs and games, hikes, guided activities, field trips and special guest speakers. Cancellation Policy

Many programs are weather dependent. Generally speaking, if the Mt. Rose Highway has hazardous conditions and requires chains in the Galena Area, we will cancel the program, as we depend on Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Spaces to keep the park roads and parking lots plowed. Please do call 775.849.4948 to check on the status of an event. If you have RSVP’d, you will receive a phone call from one of our staff that the program has been canceled.

For our fee-based workshops, registered participants must cancel at least 48 hours before their program to receive a refund of their fees. If the workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, the institute will refund fees to registered participants.
