Support Galena Programs

Help Us Make Galena Creek Community Programs a Success

The mission of the Galena Creek Visitor’s Center is to encourage understanding, appreciation, and wise use of the natural, cultural and historical resources of the Galena Canyon area and the Mt. Rose Scenic Byway.  Galena Creek Recreational Area is located off the Mount Rose Scenic Byway Highway on the south edge of Reno and is situated at the confluence of the Great Basin Ecosystem and the base of the Carson Mountain Range.  This transition zone between arid sagebrush dotted valleys and wetter, forested mountains, combined with the dynamics of Galena Creek, a perennial stream that can flood throughout the year, has resulted in a unique suite co-occurring flora and fauna and is an ideal setting for an outdoor learning and teaching environment. Make a Donation

  • Your donation directly supports Galena Creek Nature Programs:

    • $25 provides 25 Youth Day Campers with art supplies for five afternoons of fun!
    • $50 makes it possible for us to provide hot chocolate for 10 winter hikes.
    • $75 helps us provide Nature Study journals for twenty-five day campers.
    • $195 could pay for one child to attend Galena Creek’s Great Basin Naturalists Day Camp for five days (one whole week!).
    • $500 would provide four days of transportation for 50 kids to participate in ‘Learn & Serve’ stewardship projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
    • $1000 would pay for 16 pairs of childrens snowshoes, five weeks of summer day camp, or for transportation for 10 area classrooms to come to the park for a day of environmental adventure and education.
