What to Bring on these Hikes

It is recommended that you bring the following items for winter hikes:

    1. Snow boots
    2. Gaiters or snow pants to keep snow out of your boots
    3. Water….at least 2 liters per person
    4. Lunch and high energy snack food
    5. Warm hat
    6. Mittens or gloves
    7. Warm clothes. Chose items that are made of wool or synthetics, which will keep you warm even when wet. Cotton and denim are poor insulating fabrics when cold and wet. Dress in layers, so you can remove or add clothes as you hike. Key outer layer times to bring along are a wind resistant jacket and pants.
    8. Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and chapstick
    9. Day-pack to carry extra layers, food, and water
    10. Sunglasses or ski goggles.

    For snowshoe hikes, also bring
    11. Snowshoes
    12. Trekking poles with basket or ski poles
